Manage sync settings
Understand a connector's schedule, time zone, change data capture, rate limits, and criticality, and how to pause or resume a connector.
A connector's sync settings decide how often it pulls data and how hard it presses the system it is pulling from. Most of them are chosen in Connector Setup, on the Sync schedule and Rate limits steps. The controls that stay with you afterward live on Connector Health.
Sync frequency
The Sync schedule step is described on screen as "How often this connector pulls data from the provider." Sync frequency offers five choices and nothing else:
- Every 30 minutes
- Hourly
- Daily
- Weekly
- Monthly
Pick the one that matches how quickly you need the figures from that system to move. The screens do not state how long a run takes; a run's duration only appears afterward, as an observed value in Recent sync activity.
Source time zone
Source time zone records the time zone for this connector's source. It defaults to UTC, and the picker lists each zone with its offset. If the list cannot load, the step says "The time-zone list could not be loaded. UTC stays selectable."
Change data capture
Change data capture is a toggle, off by default. Its helper text on the step reads:
Stream incremental changes where the provider supports it.
That is the whole of what the screen says about it, and leaving it off is the normal choice. Your review summary shows the setting as On or Off before you finish.
Rate limits
The Rate limits step is optional, and the footer offers Skip. Leaving Set a custom rate limit off is fine for most connections. Turning it on adds two fields:
- Requests per second, required, above zero and no higher than 1000.
- Burst limit, optional, a whole number above zero and no higher than 10000. Its helper reads "Extra burst capacity above the sustained rate."
Business criticality
Business criticality is chosen on the first setup step, which asks you to choose the system "and how critical it is to operations." The options are Critical, High, Medium, and Low. The value you pick appears on the connector's Connector details panel under Configuration.
Choose these settings deliberately during setup. Once a connector exists, the sync controls available to you on Connector Health are Force sync, Pause sync, and Resume sync. There is no screen for editing a connector's schedule, time zone, change data capture, or rate limits afterward.
Pausing and resuming
On Connector Health, open the More actions menu on a connector's row.
- Pause sync stops the connector. Its Sync badge changes to Paused and the confirmation reads "Sync paused for connector name."
- Resume sync turns it back on. The badge changes to Active and the confirmation reads "Sync resumed for connector name."
The menu shows whichever of the two applies. Both need sync-management access.
Reading the Next sync column
The Next sync column on Connector Health shows a time when a run is queued, and Not scheduled when nothing is, which covers a paused connector and one with no recorded successful run.
When you want data now, use Force sync on the row. It starts a run straight away and confirms with "Sync started for connector name."
